Purple Idiyappam

Violet Idiyappam nest

Its a healthy twist in traditional Idiyappam
For Violet color:
*Soak jambu ( black plump/ Jambul / Black jambul/ Indian blackberry etc)
*Deseed them carefully.
*Blend the pulp in the blender by adding 2-3 spoons if wastewater and pinch of salt.
*Strain the pulp and keep aside ( use immediately )
For Idiyappam :
*2 ½ cups roasted rice flour ( You can roast at home )
*1 cups salted boiling water( use as per need)

*Place rice flour in a heatproof bowl.
*Add the violet pulp and mix well Add warm water little by little and stir with a spoon. Mix you smooth dough when warm ( maybe warm be careful)
*Brush the idiyappam steamer or idli steamer lightly with oil.
*Fill the greased idiyappam press( chalky press) with the dough, and close with a lid.
*Press into noodles onto the greased idli steamer molds.
*Place the idli molds in the steamer.
*Close with lid. Steam for 5- 6 minutes.
*Turn off the heat. Leave the steamer to cool slightly before opening the lid.
*Serve warm but if your sending your child for tiffin add little ghee and pack in foil paper.
🐦For garnish
*I wanted to make it as a Bird’s nest with egg 🥚 and sparrows🐦.
*For nest place the idiyappam like nest close to each other.
*For 🥚 egg make roll cheese or paneer ( I used cheese @britanniacheese ) into a round shape
For making it more colorful you can add @cadburydairymilkin Gems
For sparrow, I used sparrow cookie mold and cut paneer using it and sprinkles chat masala 🐥🐤 Sprinkle it with chocolate flakes

Summer Drink

A simple delicious melon drink to quick start the week end
Just toss the cubes of melon (watermelon or muskmelon) and few basil leaves and mint leaves in a bowl with pepper and some salt and put it in your jar or glass and top it with water and quench your thirst.
TIP: You can also blend them all together like juice or use muddler to enjoy as infused water/flavour water


Paan Truffles

Holi and paan are in relationship from years and this combination is always a hit. so here again we are with Holi special recipe after party mouth fresheners
Paan Truffles with rose petals inside:

For the centre :

2 tablespoons almonds
1 teaspoon  saunf
A tiny pinch of salt
3 tablespoons of good quality gulkand /rose petal jam ( homemade  gulkand recipe on my grind OR DM for link)
2 drops of rose essence

For the green coating-

¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
¼ cup sweetened shredded coconut
½ teaspoon cardamom powder
4 drops of green food colouring
A tiny pinch of salt
6 big sized, fresh betel leaves
1/2 teaspoon ghee
Dry sweetened coconut for rolling the truffles

To serve-

Vanilla ice cream
Rose syrup


Roast almonds on pan or microwave .
In the same pan heat the saunf on high for 30 seconds ,  until fragrant.
In a dry grinder or food processor, pulse the almonds and anise seed together until powdered. Remove in a bowl.
Add the salt , gulkand and rose essence and mix together.
Divide mixture in  parts and roll into balls. Set aside in refrigerator.
In a pan, combine the condensed milk, shredded coconut, cardamom powder, food colouring and salt , keep string till thicken and it start leaving sides .

Cut the betel leaves into thin strips and combine them with the condensed milk mixture.
Take one part of the green mixture and flatten it like a disc, in your hands using ghee, if needed, to grease your palms. Put a gulkand mixture ball in the center and cover it bringing the sides of the flattened green mixture around it. Roll in the dried sweetened coconut and set the truffle aside. Repeat the same
Refrigerate truffles to cool.
Serve with vanilla ice cream topped with rose syrup

Holi Rice

Holi is about spending time with friends and relatives and no celebration is complete without food, so we are here again with delicious main course recipe, the name itself says it all.
1 1/2 cups cooked rice( cook in coconut milk )
1 cup chopped pineapple
1 cup of coconut milk
3 tablespoons sweetened coconut flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder or finely chopped garlic
1 cup green pepper finely chopped
1 cup red pepper finely chopped
1 cup yellow  pepper finely chopped
1 cup onion finely chopped
1 cup corns
1 cup boiled broccoli
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1 spoon Everest kitchen king masala  or any gram masala
3 tablespoons lime juice
1/2 cup salted roasted cashews
1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves

Stir fry all veggies till you smell the delicious aroma of the veggies, add salt and pepper and garam masala and all seasoning.

Mix well.

Add rice cooked in coconut milk and add coconut flakes and pineapple chunks, mix well.

Serve in half cut pineapple with skin, this not only makes the recipe beautiful but it can be a party special recipe too.

Note : Cut pineapple in half and scoop the flesh of the fruit and you can use for recipe.

Holi Favours

Holi party are fun and and now a days people are too keen on giving away party favours, than why not giving a a healthy yet tasty favours.
Biscuits parfait

Ingredients :
NutriChoice 5 Grain Digestive Biscuits , broken

2 tablespoons Honey

1 cup Hung Curd (Greek Yogurt)

4 tablespoons Chia Seeds

Fresh fruits, sliced (Seasonal)
Nuts for garnish
Method :
Pulse the NutriChoice 5 Grain Digestive Biscuits in a mixer to make coarse crumbs and keep aside.

Whisk the yogurt with honey and keep aside.

Slice the seasoning fruits and keep aside.

Assemble everything in a jar, spoon the crumbled biscuits

Add 3 tablespoons greek yogurt,  layer with seasonal fruits, top it with a tablespoons of chia seeds, some more greek yogurt and finally sprinkle biscuit crumble on top and nuts

Refrigerate it for at least 2 hours before serving.

p.s take beautiful jars and cute bottles from a local shop or any online shop , decorate it with a small cute ribbon bow and and gift it in cute paper bag along with organic colours.

Holi Drink

Holi parties calls for drinks and beverages, we care for you so we are up with nonalcoholic drink 🙂 We are up with two drinks WATERMELON LIME CHAI PUDDING
11/2 cup watermelon flesh
1 cup watermelon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
2 spoon Chai seeds
1 spoon lime juice
2 spoon oats
Method :
Mix all other and serve chill in tall glass
1 cup beetroot cubes
1 1/4 cups pineapple cubes
1/4 cup apple cubes
black salt to taste
1 tsp chaat masala
salt to taste
3 cups chilled sprite
Combine the beetroot, pineapple, apple, black salt and 1½ cups of chilled water in a mixer and blend till smooth.
Transfer the mixture into a deep bowl, add the chaat masala and salt and mix well.
Put ¼ cup of the mixture into a tall glass and pour ½ cup sprite over it and stir it gently.
Repeat step 3 to make 5 more glasses.
Serve immediately.
